Kochava Explained: Mobile Attribution, SmartLinks and When to Use It

Kochava is one of the longest-running measurement platforms. What it offers, how it is set up and how it compares.

Kochava is a measurement and attribution platform for mobile apps and other connected channels such as web and connected TV. Like other mobile measurement partners, it attributes installs and in-app events to the media that drove them, sends postbacks to partners, detects fraud and reports performance. It is known for cross-channel measurement, its SmartLinks deep-linking product and a free entry tier.

What Kochava offers

  • Attribution for app installs, re-engagements and in-app events across mobile, web and CTV.
  • SmartLinks — multi-platform links that route users across channels and deep-link into apps, usable for paid and owned media.
  • Fraud tools to identify and block suspicious traffic.
  • Analytics and audience tools, plus marketing mix modelling and strategic services (Kochava Foundry) for larger clients.
  • Integrations with thousands of ad networks and platforms.

Plans and pricing

Kochava has historically offered a Free App Analytics tier and paid tiers. Third-party pricing directories list paid plans starting around $500 per month, with enterprise pricing above that — but published figures vary, and enterprise deals are contract-based. Check Kochava's current pricing directly before budgeting.

Setting up Kochava

  1. Create the app in the Kochava dashboard and get the app GUID.
  2. Integrate the SDK for Android, iOS or your cross-platform framework, initialised with the app GUID.
  3. Define events with clear names, revenue and currency for money events.
  4. Configure iOS privacy handling (App Tracking Transparency, SKAdNetwork and AdAttributionKit settings).
  5. Add partners through the partner configuration, map events for postbacks, and generate tracking links.
  6. Test with a test device: tracking link click → fresh install → events.

Working with Kochava as a partner or agency

If an advertiser measures in Kochava, you will receive a Kochava tracking link for your traffic. Pass your click ID and sub-publisher values in the parameters the advertiser specifies, and ask the advertiser to enable install and event postbacks to your platform. As with any MMP, the advertiser's Kochava data is usually the billing source of truth.

When Kochava is a good fit

  • Advertisers who want cross-channel measurement including CTV and web.
  • Teams that start small and want a free tier before committing.
  • Brands that value deep linking through SmartLinks.
